Nokia is Building the Symbian Foundation for a Mobile Open OS

Nokia announced today, that they plan to acquire the remaining 52 % of Symbian for about 264 million Euro and to setup a Symbian Foundation as an open source platform. Almost all are already on the boot, of course Symbian and the S60 software, SonyEricsson, Motorola, NTT DoCoMo or on their way ... AT&T, LG, Samsung, ST Microelectronics, Texas Instruments, Vodafone

Symbian an Android Killer? In my opinion this announcement shows, that Google's Android is going the right direction. The first Android Open Alliance handset should be out by the End of this years and from the from the Symbian Foundation in 2010 ...
