Back from Beijing - China Today (and Then)

It was a short, very intensive and again rewarding trip to China's capital Beijing. I meet and worked with many highly professional and talented people, eager to learn, always willing and fit to challenge and to absorb what seemed to be of value to them. THX

The journalist Martin Kummer went in April 1976 for a three-weeks trip to China and shot hundreds of photos about China largely closed and mysterious to the Western world. 30 years later Martin Kummer went back together with his wife Margarete and re-visiting places like Beijing, Shanghai, Guilin, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

To mark the opening of the Beijing Olympic Games in Hamburg, Kummer staged last year a photo exhibition showing his pictures from 2006 and in contrast the pictures taken 30 years ago at a ship museum "CAP SAN DIEGO". More

On August 27, Kummer's photo exhibition opens in Berlin, at the 'Chinesische Kulturzentrum' with a vernissage (until September 18, 2009)
