US Newspapers Show Further Declines in Latest ABC Circulation Report

The Audit Bureau of Circulations latest FAS-FAX report (six month period ending Sept. 30), shows circulation declines for most of newspaper (US-Top 25).

The overall decline for daily circulation was 2.5% while Sunday circulation was off an average of 3%. It is the fourth consecutive semiannual report from the ABC to show circulation declines.

Just three of the top 25 newspapers show an increase

- New York Post (704,011, up 5.3%)
- (New York) Daily News, (693,382, up 1.0%)
- St. Louis Post-Dispatch (276,588, up 0.6%)

on the other hand, big metros lost e.g.

Los Angeles Times declined 8% daily to 775,766 and 6 % Sunday to 1,172,005.
New York Times declined 3.5% daily to 1,086,798 and 3.5% Sunday to 1,623,697.
Wall Street Journal declined 1.9% daily circulation and 6.7% Weekend Edition to 1,945,830.
San Francisco Chronicle declined 5.3% daily to 373,805 and 7.3 % Sunday to 432,957.
