Survey: Publishers Plans on supporting iPad, HTML5 video tag, and mobile devices

A new survey report (1.147 respondents) from called “Supporting the iPad and HTML5— Timing, Motivation, Costs, and Scope” provides an interesting snapshoot about Publisher's Plan [and Thinking] to support Apple iPad and HTML5

Other Findings:

- 36% of media organizations plan to support the iPad by the end of 2010.
- 30% of all organizations with revenue under $1 million plan to support the iPad by the end of 2010, but only 13% of organizations with revenue topping $1 billion have the iPad on their short-term road map
- On average, online video producers will deploy 25% less content to their iPad app or website than is available on their primary websites.
- 32% of respondents said that the lack of a single HTML5-compatible video codec is holding them back from moving to HTML5.
- Contrary to Apple CEO Steve Jobs' well-publicized criticisms of Adobe's Flash, the majority of respondents who use Flash on their sites were happy with the technology's performance, security, and end-user satisfaction.
