B2B Content Marketing Report 2011: Benchmarks, Budgets and Trends

Joe Pulizzi (Content Marketing Institut) and Ann Handley (MarketingProfs) just published their new report on B2B Content Marketing. The report is still US-focused, but in 2011 (and for 2012) it's includes some international input, too. From the Intro:
"It was no surprise to us that content marketing remains a top priority for marketers in 2012. Many of the statistics and results are consistent with what we saw last year: 
9 out of 10 organizations market with content marketing.
On average, B2B marketers employ eight different content marketing tactics to achieve their goals. 
Marketers, on average, spend over a quarter of their marketing budget on content marketing (see the full budget breakdowns in the report). 
But, we’re seeing a lot of changes as well."

We really wounder, why most publishers are not embrace the business of content marketing. It's budget share is, according to this study, between 34 and 20 %, dependent on the size of company and B2B Publishers could be the first choice for high quality content.

And as you can see from the following chart, companies are quite willing [and in need] to get good content and organizational help from sources outside their organization.
